NTI Brings the Nation’s Best Electrical Instructors to Ann Arbor

The National Training Institute (NTI) isn’t just the biggest gathering of electrical instructors and industry leaders in the country — it’s a glimpse into the future of union electrical work. And it all takes place right here in Ann Arbor.

As the host local, IBEW 252 gets a front-row seat to the conversations, innovations, and connections that define where our trade is headed. NTI gives our instructors the opportunity to learn from national experts, explore new technologies, and bring back fresh knowledge to strengthen our already top-tier apprenticeship program.

It’s no accident that our program is considered one of the most comprehensive in the country. It’s thanks to investments like NTI, where learning never stops and excellence is expected. Our apprentices benefit directly from what’s taught and shared at NTI. That means safer job sites, more well-rounded training, and higher graduation rates.

But NTI is more than just a professional development opportunity. It’s a powerful reminder of what makes union training different. Our instructors bring real job site experience into the classroom. And thanks to NTI, they bring back ideas that make our local program even stronger.

This year, as hundreds of instructors and union leaders converge on the Washtenaw Community College campus, we’re reminded that being part of a national brotherhood means constant growth. We’re not content to maintain the status quo. We’re here to lead.

From solar and EV infrastructure to panel upgrades and electrification, the training offered at NTI reflects the real-world demands of our changing industry. And it makes sure our members — and our customers — are ready for what’s next.

We’re proud that Ann Arbor gets to host this premier national training event, and even prouder that IBEW NECA 252 plays a leading role in shaping the future of the electrical trade.
