IBEW NECA 252 Contractor Spotlight: Aladdin President and General Manager Jason Kreger

Every month, IBEW NECA 252 is highlighting one contractor on our blog to showcase the top-tier services they provide to the community. The contractor we are spotlighting this month is Aladdin, located in Jackson, Michigan. We spoke with Aladdin President and General Manager Jason Kreger to learn more about Aladdin, including what type of services the team provides and Jason’s role as general manager.

How long have you worked at Aladdin? What is your current role at the company?

My father bought Aladdin from its original founder in 1991 after working as a master electrician at the company for a number of years, and it’s been the family business ever since. Before I started working for Aladdin full-time, I helped out part-time in high school and college. I began working at Aladdin full-time in 1997 and assumed my current role as general manager and president in 2012, so that would make this year my 23-year anniversary.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job and what helps me come back every day is the people I have the pleasure of working with — the Aladdin team is unmatched. We have people who have stayed with us for a long period of time, and knowing they have work to do, that they feel accomplished and that they can go home to their families and put food on the table is what it comes down to.

How would you describe Aladdin in five words or less?

We are a service provider. Plain and simple. Our main goal is to be of service to our customers and the community.

How many people make up the Aladdin team?

Our office has a head count of about seven people: two electrical project managers, one mechanical service manager, one business manager, an office manager, a dispatcher and myself. In the field, we usually have 25-30 team members who are a mix of electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers and pipefitters.

What should customers know about Aladdin? Why should they choose Aladdin?

Aladdin has the advantage of having multiple trade professionals under one roof — electrical, plumbing and HVAC work all in-house. For us, it’s all about service, service, service — making sure our customers are taken care of is our bread and butter. We care about each and every customer, and we have the skills and team to handle any project that is put in front of us.

What is the “Days Without an Accident” tally on the Aladdin website?

We have had more than three years on the job accident-free. It’s a pretty lofty goal that we have been able to attain. Our focus really is on our people, so safety is our first priority. We have more frequent conversations about safety and go through safety training often. We make safety equipment readily available to ensure our team members go home to their families at the end of the day. Doing a job is one thing, but going home to your family is the primary goal.

What is the Aladdin ASPECT?

Many companies spend time and money to put core values up on the wall and never really focus on them. The Aladdin team focuses heavily on our core values that we put into the acronym ASPECT, which stands for Accountability, Safety, Professionalism, Excellence, Customer Focus and Truthfulness. The Aladdin ASPECT is really a part of our team’s daily language.
